James moved to Canada in the summer of 2015 and settled in Chilliwack after getting married in 2017. Prior to this, he lived in Hong Kong, Dubai, Cambridge, and Cardiff respectively. He attended Cardiff Metropolitan, completing his BA (Hons) in English Literature and Creative Writing, focusing his time on Journalism and Literary Transformations.
He trained with both the National Theatre and LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts) and has been a working actor since 2010, appearing in TV, Film, Video Game, and Audio Drama productions across the UK and North America.
Moving to Chilliwack in the Summer of 2017, James took up a volunteer position at Unity Christian School running the after school Drama Program and directing the 2018 School Production of Wind in the Willows. Following this, he was hired as an EA in the Elementary School whilst continuing to assist the Theatre Department in Sound and Acting Coaching for the 2019 performance of Number the Stars.
In the fall of 2019 he was hired as the Full Time Theatre Teacher for Grade 8 - 12 and steered the department through the ever changing landscape of COVID-19 in schools. He taught both Theatre 8-12 and ELL (English Language Learners) Grade 6-12 and ELL Bible until the end of the school year in 2021.
James finds deep joy in writing analytical essays on film and art, reading, writing, and creatively collaborating with his friends. When he’s not doing these things, the source of most of his happiness is found in reading to his children, walks by the river, and fighting for social justice both in our local community and globally.
James is thrilled to join the team at St Thomas Anglican, after attending the church for just over a year and a half, he has felt particularly called to actively participate in life at the church and hopes to bring some collaborative creative energy to our Youth and Family groups as well as brightening any corners of the world he can.
