‘Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea’. Imagine this scene with me. What might this tell you about Jesus? He is sitting beside the sea and then gets in a boat to teach; to share wisdom and encouragement with the people gathered ‘round.
In some ways I guess it shows that Jesus is human, that he seems to love being in nature, and is very relate-able. And he uses no pulpit! At least not a pulpit like we have in this ancient building. Then the text tells us, “And he told them many things.” [See Sermon Notes for the entire text.]
